Separation of nickel and copper in solutions

The method of survivability estimation of the great complexity system of the "Watch" type has been proposed for practical use according to the given criteria and in the frameworks of the different variants of the system functioning state (the "Watch" system has been determined in the International Convention STCW of 1978 and the amendments of 1995).

Extraction of cerium by naphthenic acids

The designed method of nickel separation from copper in solutions has been described in the paper. The method relates to hydrometallurgy of non-ferrous metals and can be used for extraction of nickel from solutions containing copper trace contaminants, as a result first-class nickel vitriol has been obtained as marketable products. The application of the method permits to increase the factor of nickel separation from copper and while processing relatively poor solutions to recover marketable nickel vitriol. It provides sufficient affordability due to greater cost of this brand mark.

Natural water resources near Mochegorsk and the open joint-stock company "Kola GMK"

The parameters and types of mine-tectonic rock bursts, the most hazardous geodynamic events occurred in the underground mines, the Lovozersky deposit, the Kola Peninsula, have been characterized. Mine-tectonic rockbursts and mining-induced earthquakes occur at these mines more often, being of very high-energy, compared to those recorded at other mines of Russia. In particular, a mining-induced earthquake, the largest, most damaging event recorded in the history of mine operations in Russia (mine-tectonic rockburst), occurred in the Umbozero Mine (with M = 4.0-4.4) in August 17, 1999, producing significant damage of mine workings (650 thousand m2). The paper describes the parameters of mine-tectonic rockbursts occurred at these mines, analyses the reasons inducing these events, considers the conditions and consequences of rockbursts in the Karnasurt Mine, the Lovozersky deposit. It has been established that the structural-block structure of rock masses and high gravitational-and-tectonic stresses concentrated in them are main reasons of mine-tectonic rockbursts.

Anthropogenic changes in fish assemblage of the lake Imandra

Photochemical processes in indicator boreal plants induced by solar irradiation and their ultraviolet constitutes have been investigated in alpine environment of the Kola North. The high inducible capacity for ambient UV-B components has been found out. The UV-B promotes more rapid plant phenols accumulation at surface foliage tissue of Cucumis sativus indicator plants. The antioxidant activity of the photoinduced compounds polar extracts accumulated in indigenous coniferous species Pinus sylvestris, Picea obovata were measured with diammonium salt of 2,2`-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonate) acid. The plant antioxidant capacity has been both belt vegetation altitude and ambient irradiation degree dependent.

Sorption cleaning of solutions from naphthenic acid

In the paper the problem of cleaning of spent or intermediate solutions of chemical, metallurgical, mining and mining-refining enterprises from naphtenic acids by sorption method has been considered. For the first time a more effective sorbent – special tissue PM – has been tested. During experimental researches it has been established that the special tissue PM has the greater efficiency at deleting petroleum acids from solutions. Besides the application of this sorbent has a number of essential advantages: does not demand special acidification of cleaned solution; has greater sorbate capacitance.

Modern capabilities of determining equilibrium composition of multicomponent chemical systems

Modern capabilities of determining equilibrium composition of multicomponent chemical systems on the basis of the thermodynamic modeling method have been considered. The supposition about full equilibrium in the system as a whole or local equilibrium in its separate parts is the basis of thermodynamic simulation. Extremum seeking of different functions as a method of processing optimization finds application in different branches of science and engineering, including chemistry, metallurgy, ecology etc. The method of entropy maximization considered in the paper allows to conduct thermodynamic simulation of systems with any parameters of their state. The result of thermodynamic simulation can be determination of equilibrium composition, calculation of main product output, definition of unknown thermodynamic parameters of processes, calculation of properties of different media and many other things.
